CivCiv Pre-School

ENGLISH FOR PRE-SCHOOL

-         APRIL 2012   -

Grade Level / Age Groups: 3, 4, 5 & 6

Subject: Self Introduction and Simple Conversations,

Cloths

Education Standards: Pre-School – ESL / American English

 

Overview and Purpose:  

This month, all age groups will learn the names of clothing as well as continuing to enhance their vocabulary.

Students will learn to recognize the names of various clothing. The new acquired skills will be emphasized during coloring activities and game play.

Children will learn:

      Dress, shirt, skirt, pants, hat, shoes, coat, jacket,      socks, belt, sunglasses and scarf.

Verification:

Students will be asked to use what they have learned in basic sentences, in singing children’s songs and during game play. Basic children’s competition among all age groups will also be used to check for students' understanding.

Children will repeat the words individually and in group activities and game play. They will ask for teacher's assistance when they are challenged by the meaning or pronunciation of a new word.

Activity:

Students will use various support materials and activities including coloring pictures, watching cartoons, and listening to children’s music such as clothing song and opposites videos. Coloring activity of balloons and other shapes will also be used.

Summary:

Children will gain basic comprehension and conversation skills to include the above terminology in their conversations of English as a second Language. Their learning process will be re-enforced by repetition.

Children will repeat the new words in English at least seven times and they will retain the meanings of those words in their minds upon being taught via the help of visual aids.

Materials Needed:

Flash cards and posters of the new terminology,

Coloring pages,

Audio and video CDs,

      Scissors, and glue.
